Welcome to my website! It is my honor to serve as your 18th District state representative. I encourage you to take a moment to learn more about me and how I am serving you in the Legislature.

I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the district I have called home for much of my life. I look forward to making a positive impact not only for the 18th, but for the entire state as we look to fix a growing number of problems that are affecting more and more families every day. It is critical Republicans and Democrats work together to ensure Washington remains a great place to live, work, go to school, raise a family, start a business, and retire.

In speaking with thousands of you from all over the district, you have told me what you want from your state government. Our shared priorities include:

  • Keeping taxes low and cutting government waste.
  • Eliminating regulations that hurt small businesses and negatively impact job growth.
  • Increasing funding for, and improving the delivery of, mental health services.
  • Working on regional transportation solutions and reducing congestion.

I am here to serve you year-round, so please feel free to contact me anytime with your comments, questions or concerns. Additionally, I am always interested in hearing your ideas on how we can best solve the most pressing issues facing our district and state.

It is an honor to serve you!

Rep. Greg Cheney

My Priorities

Listening to the People. Voters sent six initiatives to the Legislature this year. I supported the three that passed.

Our state's referendum and initiative process is the envy of voters in many states across the nation. Initiatives are one of the most direct, most impactful ways for The People to express their wishes, concerns, and frustrations to those who represent them in our Republic form of government. This year, in an unprecedented move, voters sent six initiatives to the Legislature. Three of them passed and three will be sent to the ballot this fall.

Increases in crime are threatening our families, communities, and small businesses.

According to the most recent FBI statistics, Washington's violent crime has increased 80% at a time when it is declining nationwide. We are also seeing increases in property crime, retail theft, and auto theft. A recent study ranked our state as the 8th most dangerous state in the country. I have fought legislation that would favor criminals over crime victims, allow violent criminals to serve on school boards, and the relaxing of prison sentences for violent felons. I've supported bills to crack down on catalytic-converter theft, auto theft, and addressing the fentanyl crisis that is devastating our communities and adding to our homelessness epidemic. But more must be done!

Olympia's tax-and-spend policies are hurting struggling individuals and families.

The majority party in Olympia has doubled state spending in just 10 years. During that time, they've raised nearly $80 billion in taxes. Our citizens are already struggling with high inflation, increases in fuel, food, and energy prices, and ever-increasing housing costs. This level of spending is unsustainable as more and more tax burden falls on those who can least afford it. The state's continuing record tax collections should result in property tax relief, not more state programs and bureaucracy.
